This gave me chills, Yulani! I’ve been thinking + writing about nature being the divine and how God is everywhere, everything. So gorgeous and poetic. And I absolutely love the meaning of your beautiful name, mine means “beautiful flower” and I also think what a gift it is to have nature embedded in our name!
I love this Yulani! I’m not a believer in any sense either - I’ve been brought up devoid of religion and I still lead my life that way. But the power and beauty of nature is not something to be overlooked - it’s magnificent!
Also the meaning of your name is so beautiful and feels like the perfect fit, I love it!
I'm so thankful to whatever brought me to this piece of writing today.
I call being outside - under the sky, near trees, water, birds, butterflies or any other beings I meet along the way - church. And having grown up in the Methodist Church, there are few people I share this with... As I fear it'll turn into active attempts to save my soul... But I've never felt more connected to this grand symphony of life than when I'm outside of human-made walls and present with all that's around me.
Thank you for sharing this... It feels kinda like when I stumble upon someone reading a favorite book or author of mine and there's a knowing that grows with each exchange and exclamation... "I love that part too!"
Finally, for me recently it has been butterflies and dragon/ damselflies. There's this idea in the church that if God loves a sparrow or some smaller creature, then "He" must love humans so much more. I find intricacy in the patterns on a butterflies wings or the brilliant colors and mechanics of the damselfly... And for them to live for mere days. For me, whoever is the architect cares deeply and intimately for all of the details. And that fills me with love. hope. faith.

Beautiful, Yulani. As ever I'm in awe and encouraged by your reflections on our divine life
